Optimizing your Video for Effective Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

“Every minute 20 hours of video get uploaded on Youtube”

With consumers getting more and more hooked to interactive content, marketers are increasingly looking for newer avenues to add that zing to their web sites. Videos do add that required X-factor to a site. But as far as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) goes, Googlebots are incapable of crawling your videos. So how do you then have a video and still stay relevant for the web spiders.

Here are the 5 tips that would help your video rule the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs):

Content: As with normal text content, your video content should also be relevant, clear and crisp. It should be able to convey the message in an interesting way.

Keywords: Incorporate your keywords in thedescription of your video. Even your video transcript should be keyword-rich. Adding a relevant transcript serves a dual purpose- your video becomes accessible to people with hearing disabilities as well as it becomes relevant for web spiders. Ideally the filename of the video should also contain the keywords.

Feedback: Allow viewer comments and feedback on your video. The more people talk about your video, the higher will be your ranking on search result page.
Linking: Link your video to relevant content on your site. While linking ensure that appropriate keywords are used. Also make your content relevant so that others link to your video too. More the number of inbound links, higher will be your ranking.

Sitemap: Last but not the least, submit video sitemap to search engines. This will help web spiders to index your video easily.
